December 28th 2009 - CHRISTMAS WAS CERTAINLY A TIME OF GIVING FOR DIGICEL

BASSETERRE – ST. KITTS (DECEMBER 28th, 2009) – In the true spirit of Christmas, Digicel St. Kitts & Nevis, gave back for the holidays in a number of ways that sought to make the season brighter for young people, families, local communities.

On Christmas Eve, the team at Digicel partnered with J’s Shop & Save to provide presents for children in its vicinity. Much to the delight of the youngsters who received the gifts and adding to the overall excitement of the occasion, Santa Claus, Dora and Elmo were commissioned to make surprise special appearances.

Digicel is known and proud to be a strong and ongoing supporter of rich culture and talent and has therefore made several important contributions to local individuals, groups and events throughout the Carnival season. The city was splashed in colour as mocko jumbies danced festively for spectators in the New Years Day parade, beautifully clad in bright red and white Digicel branded ensembles. As an official sponsor of Party Central, Digicel demonstrated its patronage for homegrown bands and other artistes who were able to showcase their talent nightly over the Carnival season. 

The Bigger, Better Network also renewed its sponsorship of the Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant for the fourth consecutive year. The prestigious pageant took place on December 30th, at Carnival Village, and was an evening which showcased a fusion of local and regional performances such as Digicel-sponsored Claudette Peters out of Antigua and former contestant. The competition ended with an unprecedented finale as two queens, Miss Consuelo Dupal of St. Lucia and Miss Berriscia Byron of St. Kitts, were both crowned.
