Digicel Pleased To Be Involved In a Well Organized Event

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS (THURSDAY JULY 27TH, 2006) More than 400 patrons turned out to Ship Wreck Beach Bar last Saturday July 22nd, 2006 to lend their support to two worthy charities for Children in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis; PAL Pediatric Assistance League and FUZZ BUZZ a reading programme for Kids.

The funds raised will be donated equally to the two charities; Ann Fish President of the Pediatric Assistance League and Heather Hutchin of the Ministry of Education will be presented with cheques of $6,500.00 each, representing the total sum of the funds raised.

The event which raised $10,000.00 in its' inaugural staging last year, saw an increase of $3,000.00 in its support this year; Don Freeman a member of the Organizing Committee says, the support received from local sponsors like Digicel, Carib Beer, Leeward Charter and Blue Water, made it possible to offer great raffle and competition prizes to our patrons, which provided the motivation to give freely to our worthy charities.

Of the events on the day, the Hole in One Golf competition, A Frisbee Contest and the Horseshoe Tournament all sponsored by Digicel, were some of the top revenue earners, netting $1,070, $225.00 and $660.00 respectively.

Jonathan Winterburn won one of two Digicel Motorola Razr Phones for the Hole in One Competition; Zach and John won a pair of Digicel Ipods for the Horseshoe Competition and; Caroline Joseph won one of the raffles on the day for the second of two Digicel Motorola Razr Phones.

Digicel Marketing Manager Donovan White says; events of this nature are very important to the social fabric of the Federation because it allows interaction and mingling at all levels with the ultimate goal being to assist children. We are very pleased to have been involved with the event especially because the volunteers who spent time and some of their own money planning the event, made sure it was well organized and all aspects of the day was efficiently executed.

Members of the Organizing Committee includes: Kim Korman, Danielle Bedard, Lynda Nottingham, Ramon (proprietor Ship Wreck), Don Freeman and Tim Leypoldt.
