Digicel invests in young talent for this years carnival, and announces special rising star treat!

DIGICEL INVESTS IN YOUNG TALENT FOR THIS YEARS CARNIVAL, AND ANNOUNCES SPECIAL RISING STAR TREAT!

WEDNESDAY, November 22, 2006 BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS: Digicel, the fastest growing mobile telecommunications provider in the Caribbean, today invested EC$60,000.00 through a two year title sponsorship agreement of what use to be known as the Miss. Haynes Smith Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant'. The pageant will have its 27th staging on December 29th, 2006 and is renamed under the telecommunications company title sponsorship as; The Digicel Haynes Smith Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant'.

The principal objective of this pageant is to showcase Caribbean Culture and promote regional integration amongst Caribbean youths, while communicating meaningful social and educational issues through the performing arts,' commented Antonio Maynard Chairman of the Pageant

Kevin Edwards Market Manager, Digicel St. Kitts & Nevis says, Digicel is delighted to be associated with this prestigious pageant. The 2006/7 pageant is the 27th staging of this truly pan-Caribbean event with 15 contestants who hail from 13 different Caribbean territories.

Digicel applauds this initiative as a means of cultivating creative expression amongst the youth as it reinforces the vast talent that is emerging throughout the Caribbean.' Edwards continued.

Digicel also announced that as part of the event on the 29th of December, it has confirmed a special appearance of the 2006 Digicel Rising Star Champion Kyron Baptiste of St. Vincent and the Grenadines as the featured performer for the pageant.
