BASSETERRE – ST. KITTS (NOVEMBER 18^TH, 2010) – Digicel, The Federation’s Bigger, Better Network, has with much fervor stepped forward to partner for a lifetime with The St. Kitts & Nevis Red Cross Society. The new alliance involves a hefty contribution from Digicel of unique products and services geared towards the enhanced operations of the Society.

At a brief hand-over ceremony held at Digicel’s Corporate Office to officially forge the great partnership, Digicel Country Manager, Sean Latty proudly presented the Network’s support package. It included the activation of two dozen special accounts for Red Cross Society members, each with free credit and free calls amongst each other, discounted rates, and a guarantee for free replacement of any damaged handsets. Additionally, other perks will be given during the hurricane season every year and particularly in any instance where the Federation experiences disasters of any sort.

Mr. Latty enthusiastically commented, “Digicel is pleased to partner with The St. Kitts & Nevis Red Cross Society in fulfilling their communication needs. We think that communication is a critical part of any organization that provides humanitarian relief during periods of natural disasters. As such, our investment is ensuring that The Red Cross, when they are called upon, has one less thing to worry about and can focus on their core responsibility which is protecting and preserving lives during times of disaster”.

Dr. Reginald O’Loughlin, President of the St. Kitts & Nevis Red Cross, was present to accept the package, and expressed his sincere gratitude to Digicel for its support. He highlighted the importance of such a contribution towards the Society in ensuring that they are able to effectively and efficiently make damage assessments on the go when needed, and respond to others who require urgent assistance at times of adversity.
